Markets: 2025 Price Predictions

Crypto markets fundamentally changed following Donald Trump’s reelection on November 4.

Bitcoin exploded from ~$68k to over $100k within a month, and the rest of the market followed.

This was likely just the repricing of the crypto industry, not a full-blown bull market frenzy like 2021.

Think about it like this: the government of the world’s largest economy went from actively trying to kill crypto to advocating for a strategic Bitcoin reserve… that’s a BIG change.

As a result, the markets repriced BTC, and the entire asset class. This move in prices actually had some fundamentals… crazy!

My current thesis is that the bull market continues in 2025, with (relatively) stable BTC returns, and full-blown frenzies in a smaller set of crypto assets and sectors

Check out the next section to get my sectors and themes to watch!

But without further ado, my price predictions for crypto assets in 2025:

  • Bitcoin ($138,000): I might get a lot of hate for this one. BTC returned 120% in 2024 and as I said I think returns stabilize this year. Plus, a 30%+ yearly return for a $2 trillion asset is hardly paltry… One caveat though - if the United States starts buying BTC for a strategic reserve, all bets are off…

  • Ethereum ($8,400): I think ETH finally has a great year. Institutional adoption is accelerating, staked ETH ETFs are on the way, and it has some catching up to do. A 150%+ return is certainly doable for the world’s second largest crypto asset.

  • Solana ($400): Crypto’s best casino will have a quieter year, following its golden run in 2024. Competitors including Hyperliquid and Sui will challenge its market position, and the bulk of the memecoin supercycle appears to be over. However, I think Solana’s solid positioning in the AI sector will propel some solid gains in 2025

2025 Key Themes to Watch

Crypto Mindshare by Sector - Source

Crypto x AI has emerged as the key theme for the industry over the past few months.

AI Agents with twitter accounts and their own coins (and the projects that help create these agents) have defined the sector so far. Some examples

  • aixbt - a crypto analyst agent that analyzes crypto market trends by monitoring social media and key opinion leaders. aixbt uses a proprietary engine to identify high momentum crypto trades. Token holders gain access to its analytics platform.

  • Freysa - an agent that manages a crypto prize pool; players try to persuade it to distribute the cryptocurrency through text interactions, but each attempt costs more, making it a game of wit and strategy against the AI's programmed responses

  • Virtuals - a platform where users can create, co-own, and monetize crypto AI agents. It uses the $VIRTUAL token for transactions and governance within its ecosystem. Virtuals has launched many top agents including aixbt

  • ai16z - an AI-led venture capital DAO where an AI agent, inspired by Marc Andreessen, autonomously makes investment decisions in crypto projects. It's built on Solana and operates with its governance token, $AI16Z. The projects creators are also developing an open-source framework called ElizaOS to create, deploy, and manage autonomous AI agents.

While these agents and frameworks are interesting and their coins have turbo mooned, I am skeptical about their continued success and outperformance.

The true winners will be the protocols and apps that integrate AI to simplify crypto UX and create altogether new products. Regardless, AI x Crypto as a broad sector is undoubtedly the area to watch in 2025.

With that said, here are some of the other top sectors that I’m looking at for huge growth in 2025:

  • DeFAI / AiFi - the next evolution of Crypto x AI projects will feature projects that enable AI agent usage of DeFi protocols. While its still very early, I believe that this will be the single biggest sector of 2025. (example projects: Griffain, Mode, HeyAnon)

  • ETH Staking - with the likely launch of staked ETH ETFs in 2025, projects that support ETH staking stand to benefit (example projects: Lido, Rocket Pool)

  • Stablecoins / Real-World Assets - as institutions continue to accept crypto as a legitimate asset class and viable technology, more real-world assets will be issued on blockchains. Expect HUGE growth in 2025. (example projects: Mantra, Ondo)

Upcoming Product Launches

  1. Berachain - an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain aiming to enhance liquidity for DeFi applications using a unique consensus mechanism design. Set to launch in Q1, it has garnered significant attention amassing over $1 billion in pre-deposits ahead of its anticipated mainnet launch.

  2. Unichain - a DeFi-focused Ethereum L2 developed by Uniswap, designed to address liquidity fragmentation and improve transaction efficiency across Optimism Superchain chains. Scheduled for a public mainnet launch in early 2025, it has already generated substantial interest.

  3. MegaETH - an EVM-compatible Ethereum L2 aiming to provide real-time transaction processing with capabilities of over 100,000 transactions per second and millisecond latency. It has raised $30 million in funding through various rounds, including a significant $20 million seed round backed by notable investors like Vitalik Buterin. MegaETH is set to launch its public testnet early this year, with its mainnet expected by the end of the year.

Other News

  • AICC Drama [X.com] A wave of drama surrounding The AICC (Aiccelerate) project began with its unconventional launch strategy. The project allocated 100% of its tokens to 245 KOLs instead of offering a public sale or broader distribution. This decision set the stage for controversy when, shortly after the token's launch, the value skyrocketed, pushing the market cap to around $150 million. The insiders, including notable KOLs, began selling off their tokens almost immediately, leading to a sharp decline in value. The community's backlash accused the project of orchestrating a "pump and dump" scheme where only a select few profited at the expense of others.

  • Usual Money’s Protocol Changes Shake Staked USD0 and Governance Token Values [Bitcoin.com] A recent update to Usual Money’s redemption policy for its staked token, USD0++, has triggered significant market volatility. The change, which revised the 1:1 unstaking ratio which helped to stabilize the price of USD0++, led to USD0++ declining over 8% to $0.905, before recovering slightly. Usual’s governance token, USUAL, also fell 33.1% over the week, now trading around $0.63 with a market cap of $328 million. Meanwhile, the core stablecoin USD0 has maintained its $1 peg but saw its market cap drop by $340 million to $1.54 billion.

  • Circle Donates $1 Million in USDC to Trump’s Inaugural Committee [BeIn Crypto] Circle, the second-largest stablecoin issuer, has donated $1 million in USDC to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural committee, joining other crypto companies like Coinbase, Kraken, and Ripple in supporting the pro-crypto administration. Trump's re-election has spurred optimism within the crypto industry, with donations exceeding $170 million to fund inaugural events, including private dinners and receptions with the incoming administration. Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire highlighted the significance of the committee accepting USDC as a testament to the growing acceptance of digital dollars. The donation comes amid a surge in stablecoin demand and regulatory optimism in the U.S., while crypto leaders seek to strengthen ties with the administration during the ongoing market rally.
